The horses that enter the Great Geldings program will spend anywhere from a few months to a year or more transitioning from track life to ranch life. Many hours of rehab and training go into each horse and we strive to develop them for their best suited career...be that in ranch riding, rodeo, dressage or eventing.
This page is reserved for horses still working through the training program for the Gate to Great program. As they finish up the training program (more info on that HERE), they will be transitioned to the "Great Geldings" page as finished horses available for sale. If you are interested in a particular horse that is still in training, please contact us.
This page and the available "Great Geldings" page will change often as horses enter or complete the training program. Bookmark us and check back often!
2011 Chestnut Gelding
Red was a successful racehorse, winning back to back stakes races at Santa Anita. With Storm Cat and The Minstrel breeding, the fire is tempered a bit with Seattle Slew. Red already has shown a lot of interest in working cattle and will begin a full season in the spring.
2007 Dark Bay Gelding
A son of Pleasant Tap, "Tappin" ran 79 times with 15 wins, all while in the barn of some of the best connections in the business. We were truly honored when they chose to send him to the ranch. We love these old warrior geldings and this one is no exception.
2012 Bay Gelding
Quaint comes to us from the barn of Kentucky Derby-winning trainer Graham Motion. He also happens to be by Kentucky Derby-winning sire Street Sense. And he exudes all the class that you might expect from such illustrious connections. Quaint has not done a thing wrong since starting training and he is going to be amazing at whatever his final career is!
We answer your questions about retraining Thoroughbreds for off-track careers and share the stories of the horses on the ranch.
