The horses that enter the Great Geldings program will spend anywhere from a few months to a year or more transitioning from track life to ranch life. Many hours of rehab and training go into each horse and we strive to develop them for their best suited career...be that in ranch riding, rodeo, dressage or eventing.
This page is reserved for horses still working through the training program for the Gate to Great program. As they finish up the training program (more info on that HERE), they will be transitioned to the "Great Geldings" page as finished horses available for sale. If you are interested in a particular horse that is still in training, please contact us.
This page and the available "Great Geldings" page will change often as horses enter or complete the training program. Bookmark us and check back often!
2007 Dark Bay or Brown Gelding
"Ghost" has the movie-star good looks one would expect from a horse costing six-figures as a yearling at the Keeneland sales. He's a solidly built ranch horse, with lots of miles under his belt, gathering cattle. He's gaining rope experience, and has worked some brandings.
Out Of This World
2013 Bay Gelding
Out Of This World comes to us from the same connections as Doc Ruel. He never made it to the races, quite likely due to his laid back and super chilled personality! We have liked everything we've seen of him so far and will let him have some turn out, grow up a bit more and see what we have this fall!
2012 Bay Gelding
Quaint comes to us from the barn of Kentucky Derby-winning trainer Graham Motion. He also happens to be by Kentucky Derby-winning sire Street Sense. And he exudes all the class that you might expect from such illustrious connections. Quaint has not done a thing wrong since starting training and he is going to be amazing at whatever his final career is!
2013 Bay Gelding
Thumbs Up, aka Thomas, came to us from the same place that sent us Special Al a few years ago and when Summer says a horse is exceptional, she is right! Though only 4, Thomas has a heart of gold and is the type of horse you could let your grandma ride. He is going to be fun!
We answer your questions about retraining Thoroughbreds for off-track careers and share the stories of the horses on the ranch.
