If you like a chestnut with splashes of chrome, “Demmi” will grab your eye. He can be the star of the show arena or trail and is happy in either environment. He has some mileage in hunter under saddle classes at all-breed competitions and shows potential to move into fence classes. He's also competed in low level dressage and could be a starter eventing mount. We can envision this all-around gelding in the hunt field based on how well he handles himself in all sorts of terrain. His rocking chair lope won't tire a rider heading out for a full day's adventure.
Since coming to Gate to Great, he has been a steady, quite horse out in the country while learning every job on the ranch, from gathering big pastures to working cattle in pens. He started roping training this spring and will continue to add to his ranch skills this summer.
He crosses our big irrigation canal without hesitation and rides down the road with confidence. He heads out alone or in company and isn't bothered by cow dogs underfoot.
A true sweet-heart, Demmi is good to catch, gets along in a herd, loads and hauls well, is nice on the ground, stands at the mounting block, has good feet and is easy to shoe. He loves attention and would relish stabled life with a one horse owner to fuss over him. If you need a horse that can check a lot of boxes, don't overlook him. At age eight, he's just coming into the prime of his life and for the mature rider, could be the last horse you'll ever need to buy.
