Thumbs Up, aka "Thomas"

"Thomas"

Jockey Club registered as Thumbs Up, By Distorted Humor X Sequel, by A.P. Indy

2013 Bay gelding

15.1 1/2 hands

Royally bred, broke, kind and quiet sum up this neat little horse who has seen some of the roughest terrain our ranching country can offer. “Thomas” is super brave and willingly goes where you point him with athleticism. He's been used extensively on the ranch and is the horse to grab when there's a tricky job to be done. At just five years old, he has the seasoning of horses twice his age.

Thomas has seen the back of huge South Dakota and Wyoming pastures, gathering cattle until the Sun goes down and has been called upon when the neighbor's cows were out on the highway in a night-time storm. He's traveled the Cheyenne River breaks in an area we call “Afghanistan”, due to it's steep, rocky cliffs and is the real deal for someone who needs a horse with guts. This spring, he worked big brandings, dragging calves to the fire among the chaos of large crews and hundreds of cattle.

In the pasture, he's the first horse to find us and practically begs to stick his nose in the halter. Not one to hide from a day's work, he willingly hops in the trailer, saddled and ready to see new horizons. Thomas is good on the ground, easy to shoe and a pleasure to have around. He stands at the mounting block and rides off like an older horse. We've started using him as a mount for visiting friends, with his smaller size and frame making him an ideal candidate for a lady's horse.

Thomas has shown potential to head to the hunting field, as he has considerable cross-country mileage under his belt. He's been through the jumping alley and while green, showed he could advance for someone in English disciplines.

He is registered with the Jockey Club as Thumbs Up, by leading sire Distorted Humor out of Sequel (by A.P. Indy). This lightly raced gelding has been off the track for a couple of years; papers available, stamped “Retired from Racing”.
