Horses in Training

The horses that enter the Great Geldings program will spend anywhere from a few months to a year or more transitioning from track life to ranch life. Many hours of rehab and training go into each horse and we strive to develop them for their best suited career...be that in ranch riding, rodeo, dressage or eventing.

This page is reserved for horses still working through the training program for the Gate to Great program.  As they finish up the training program (more info on that HERE), they will be transitioned to the "For Sale" page as finished horses available for sale.  If you are interested in a particular horse that is still in training, please contact us.

This page and the available geldings will change often as horses enter or complete the training program.  Bookmark us and check back often!

Red Outlaw

Red Outlaw

2011 Chestnut Gelding

16.0 Hands

Red was a successful racehorse, winning back to back stakes races at Santa Anita. With Storm Cat and The Minstrel breeding, the fire is tempered a bit with Seattle Slew. Red has shown a natural interest in working cattle and is stocky enough to handle the job.

King

King

2012 Bay Gelding

15.3 Hands

This well made boy won across the pond and in the states, running on the turf. His pedigree sports heavy hitters such as Danehill, Gone West and Northern Dancer. A super people-oriented boy with "Oh Wow" eye appeal, he has taken to ranch work like a duck to water.

Tappinintovictory

Tappinintovictory

2007 Dark Bay Gelding

16.0 Hands

A son of Pleasant Tap, "Tappin" ran 79 times with 15 wins, all while in the barn of some of the best connections in the business. We were truly honored when they chose to send him to the ranch.  We love these old warrior geldings and this one is no exception.

Alex

Alex

2014 Bay Gelding

15.2 Hands

This grandson of Preakness winner Afleet Alex is a little tank full of personality and friendliness. He'll leave the herd to see what we are up to and beg for a scratch on the neck. A racing career was not in his cards, but he'll win your heart with his good nature. Watch for him next spring when the cow work begins- we think he'll be a super ranch horse and pleasure mount.

Special Jo

 Special Jo

2010 Bay Gelding

16. Hands

From the sire-line that produced 2018 Triple Crown winner, Justify, this "Special" guy liked having his win-photo taken and was popular in the claim box. He will have a few light rides tracking cattle this fall and should be ready to go to work for next calving season (spring 2019). Watch for updates on our Face Book page this fall.
